You would be hard pressed to find a more complete cycle of Schubert symphonies as this one. It includes the often ommited 7th and the unfinished 10th, both of which offered here in Brian Newbould's completions. Marriner and the ASMF provide tight, sprightly and lyrical interpretations of all symphonies, including a fresh and buoyant rendition of the famous "unfinished" No. 8.

There are other great sets available from Abbado, Muti, Böhm, just to name a few, but they are not as complete and cannot match the unbelievably low price of the Marriner. Bargains like this, on quality like this, are rare.
