This is a new recording that will make you appreciate Joseph Haydn's piano music all over again. Spanish pianist Enrique Bagaría breathes life into each and every phrase, and assures that none of the notes are made to sound insignificant. His control of nuances, accents, articulation and dynamics is second to none. The music is always characterized by a natural feel for drama at one end and a sense of playful fun at the other, with the two always in perfect balance. Unlike many other pianists who simply play Haydn, you can feel an interaction between Enrique Bagaría and the keyboard that denotes a human soul sitting on the bench.

The recording itself is pristine. Close but natural, positioning you at the keyboard, which always creates a very realistic effect. Spanish label Eudora has only been active now for about a year or two, but they've already set some high standards with only a handful of recordings released thus far. But then again, they are an independent label, and that's what independent music labels do best ... quality over quantity.
